Summary
Zelis is modernizing the healthcare financial experience with technology across payers, providers, and healthcare consumers. The Software Engineer will support a large, distributed healthcare payment platform through Tier 2 production support, troubleshooting, data analysis, code fixes, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with technical teams and customers.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex production issues across a large, distributed healthcare platform
- Investigate application behavior using SQL, application logs, and monitoring tools
- Analyze and troubleshoot data issues
- Debug and Diagnose integrations (API, SSO)
- Develop and implement code fixes, utilities, automation, and other solutions to improve system reliability and supportability
- Perform root-cause analysis for production incidents and help identify permanent solutions for recurring issues
- Collaborate with software engineering, infrastructure, database, operations, and other technical teams to resolve issues spanning multiple systems
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and occasionally work directly with healthcare customers to investigate complex issues
- Take ownership of production issues from initial investigation through resolution and follow-up
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule supporting business-critical production systems
Skills
- Experience with C# and SQL
- 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience developing, debugging, or supporting applications using C# .NET
- Working knowledge of SQL including the ability to query and analyze data for troubleshooting
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an interest in understanding how complex systems work
- Ability to read existing code and trace application behavior across multiple services and system components
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, business partners, and customers
- Ability to prioritize and take ownership in a fast-paced, high-impact production environment
- Willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule
