Job description

Summary

Zen Educate is a growing company focused on improving education staffing through engineering excellence. They are seeking a Product Engineer to help build their platform, which connects educators and schools efficiently, while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Valuing real world outcomes and shared learning over output
  • Product thinking over pure tech - start with the problem, ship quickly and iterate
  • Team success and sustainability over individual heroics
  • Build relationships quickly and take ownership of problems end-to-end to help grow a team around you
  • Aligning with Product and Ops to clarify what problem we were solving and delivering iterative improvements
  • Major overhaul of our permissions system—moving away from hardcoded roles towards something granular and scoped per school, network, and unit
  • Wired up audit logging around sensitive actions for proper traceability in production and built out an admin UI for non-engineers to manage roles and permissions
  • Creating a foundational configuration for our monorepo to help use AI more effectively when building product and writing code
  • Implementing backend and frontend events to better understand how users interact with our product and what we can improve on
  • Upgrading our React Native app to the latest Expo SDK, fixing compatibility issues and resolving build and runtime problems
  • Improving the anonymisation logic in our internal tool for cloning production databases safely for development and addressing minor vulnerabilities found from monthly red-teaming
