Job description

Summary

ActioNet, Inc. is a woman-owned IT Solutions Provider with over 25 years of experience in Agile Software Engineering and IT Managed Services. They are seeking a motivated Junior Data Center Technician to support daily operations in their data center, focusing on hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, and networking hardware
  • Perform regular data center walk-throughs to ensure environmental stability (temperature, power, cabling, etc.)
  • Respond to tickets and incidents related to hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with racking, stacking, and cabling of new equipment
  • Monitor system alerts and escalate issues to senior technicians or engineers as needed
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of equipment and components
  • Follow safety, security, and compliance procedures within the data center
  • Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed

Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or certifications in IT/Networking is a plus
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking concepts, and operating systems
  • Ability to lift, rack, and move equipment (up to :50 lbs)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, if required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or related certification
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and/or monitoring tools
  • Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on lab experience in IT or data center environment
