Summary
Aegis Sortation is an intralogistics technology and systems integration company delivering automation solutions for e-commerce, freight and parcel, warehouse, and distribution operations. The Controls Engineer will model, test, and validate conveyor system performance using Emulate3D, FlexSim, PLC programs, and RS Echo while collaborating with design and controls teams to optimize systems and reduce project risk.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed conveyor system models using Emulate3D and FlexSim
- Analyze system rates, throughput, capacity, and overall performance
- Perform controls emulation using actual PLC programs and RS Echo
- Test and validate PLC logic in a virtual environment before field implementation
- Partner with System Design engineers to evaluate layouts and optimize system performance
- Collaborate with Controls Engineers to identify sequencing, communication, and operational issues
- Apply your understanding of conveyor mechanics, electrical controls, and industrial automation to simulation models
- Document simulation results, assumptions, findings, and recommended improvements
- Communicate technical results clearly to engineering teams and project stakeholders
- Help improve simulation and emulation standards, tools, and internal processes
- Support projects by delivering accurate, timely, and customer-focused solutions
Skills
- • Proficiency with Emulate3D and experience modeling automated or conveyor-based systems
- • Experience with FlexSim or a comparable simulation platform
- • Familiarity with PLC programming concepts and industrial automation
- • Experience performing controls emulation or virtual commissioning
- • Knowledge of conveyor mechanics, electrical controls, and material handling systems
- • Ability to interpret system layouts, operational requirements, and control narratives
- • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- • Ability to collaborate across controls, mechanical, electrical, and system design disciplines
- • Clear written and verbal communication skills
- • Strong attention to accuracy, quality, and project deadlines
- • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- • Experience using PLC programs and RS Echo for system validation
- • Experience supporting conveyor, sortation, distribution, or material handling projects
- • Understanding of system throughput analysis and performance validation
