Summary
Airbnb is a global community-driven travel platform connecting hosts and guests through stays and experiences. The Software Engineer will build web experiences for Passport & Commerce using React and TypeScript, owning features from technical design through launch while collaborating across product, design, backend, iOS, and Android teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build web features using modern, component-driven React and TypeScript
- Partner with product and design to turn new concepts into polished, accessible web experiences
- Collaborate with backend, iOS, and Android engineers to keep feature behavior and data consistent across platforms
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, and actively participate in code and design reviews
- Learn from and collaborate with senior engineers on the team, and contribute to shared web patterns and best practices as the team scales
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance, and reliability issues affecting the web app
Skills
- 3+ years of professional front-end/web engineering experience, including shipping features in a large-scale, production consumer web application
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React (or a comparable modern framework), including component-driven architecture, state management, and data-fetching patterns (e.g., GraphQL)
- Experience working with backend and other platform (iOS and Android) engineers to integrate APIs and keep cross-platform experiences consistent
- A track record of delivering features from technical design through launch and iteration, with growing scope and independence
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a habit of seeking and acting on feedback
- Comfort operating with some ambiguity, including on a newly formed team establishing new surfaces for the first time
- Solid understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and CI/deployment practices for a large-scale consumer site
