Software Development Engineer, AWS

Summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is building a central pipeline of Software Development Engineer talent for current and anticipated roles across its organization. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems, collaborating on new features, resolving technical issues, participating in architecture reviews, and mentoring junior engineers across domains such as cloud computing, distributed systems, security, and AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Implement complex software solutions that meet business requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and bugs
• Participate in architecture and design reviews to provide technical guidance
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancement
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture

• Collaborate with product managers to refine requirements for upcoming features

Skills

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 3+ years of building complex software systems experience
• 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
