Summary
Ameresco is an energy infrastructure company delivering integrated solutions that modernize infrastructure and improve energy performance. The Project Commissioning Engineer tests and verifies HVAC and building automation systems on construction and renovation projects, documents compliance with design intent and energy efficiency standards, and supports commissioning operations.
Responsibilities
- Review design drawings and equipment specifications and submittals for clarity and completeness and for equipment maintenance access
- Create the project-specific commissioning (Cx) plan and develop the start-up and testing checklists for the HVAC equipment and systems
- Perform onsite equipment inspections and verify that the equipment has been installed in accordance with the design drawings and approved submittals
- Document all deficiencies and note corrective action required
- Participate in and support equipment start-up and testing by the manufacturer or the contractor
- Perform hands-on functional testing of HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, pumps and fans
- Verify building automation system (BAS) sequences of operation, ensure stable operation
- Review Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals for completeness
- Maintain a detailed commissioning log and track open issues until contractors resolve them
- Compile final commissioning reports for building owners
- Perform all other duties as needed
- Assists in the coordination and scheduling of project Cx meetings
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure certifications are current
Skills
- Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
- 3+ year of field experience (mechanical design/build or Cx experience) or Two-year Technical Degree, with 5+ years field experience (service or BAS technician or Cx experience)
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
- Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP)
