Summary
CEQEL Critical Commissioning provides mission-critical commissioning services for complex facilities across various industries. The Commissioning Project Manager leads and supports full life cycle commissioning projects, including planning, scheduling, financial management, stakeholder coordination, design reviews, and testing of complex electrical and mechanical systems. The role operates largely independently and requires extensive domestic travel.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pre-construction elements including project initiation, kickoff, RFIs and submittals
- Coordinate and support resource and material forecasting
- Develop, manage and monitor schedule
- Participate in, schedule or lead project meetings
- Coordinate / perform QA / QC and Cx plans and specifications to ensure completion in accordance with the project scope and appropriate guidelines and manuals
- Communicate and coordinate project staffing needs
- Coordinate or oversee start-up, cutover, pre-functional or functional testing and project closeout
- Onboard project team for mobilization
- Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Lead and assist in preparation of final commissioning report for submission to client
- Prepare, forecast and monitor project budgets, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization and maintain overall responsibility for the profitability of the project
- Communicate with the client when additional fees / change orders are required
- Identify potential project risks and develop / implement strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, presentations and the overall marketing efforts of the firm
- Assist in the promotion of the firm, service and expertise to existing or potential clients
- Maintain client relationships to ensure an ongoing positive relationship and work with clients to identify and develop new projects
- Support contact with clients and build effective, long-term client relationships
- Ensure client satisfaction through active communication
- On-site inspection, validation, functional testing, verification and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Participate in factory witness testing and observe startup activities
- Use technical equipment to perform testing
- Direct vendors / contractors in the execution of the testing
- Development of commissioning plans
- Prepare pre-functional checklists
- Prepare functional performance test scripts
- Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget
- Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned

- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and controls system principles
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
- Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace

- Ability to achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as / if required

- Frequently manipulating, moving or grasping small parts, devices or tools
- Frequently required to remain in a stationary position
- Frequently moving through various environments, including critical facilities, low / high temperatures, and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind
- Frequently required to ascend/ descend stairs and ladders and move through tight or confined spaces to access equipment
- On occasion the employee may be required to position self under or over equipment
- On occasion the employee may move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to rent vehicles and have valid driver's license
- Up to 75%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
- Must be located near a major airport
- Effective May 7, 2025, and in accordance with U.S. federal regulations for domestic air travel, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position
- Potential relocation opportunities may exist per project needs
- Must be able to obtain NFPA 70E / OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications as required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in commissioning, construction management, or MEP systems within mission critical or critical facility environments
- Experience participating in MEP design review and functional testing of complex electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience assisting with or executing full life cycle commissioning activities, including pre-functional and functional testing, and project closeout
- Experience working directly with owners, designers, contractors, subcontractors, and other trades in a construction or commissioning setting
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP), or equivalent industry certification preferred
