Toensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole, ARC empowers formerly andcurrently incarcerated people to thrive by providing a support network, comprehensivereentry services, and opportunities to advocate for policy change. Through our grassrootspolicy advocacy, we are dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system so that it ismore just and equitable for all people. ARC currently serves more than 1,400 formerlyincarcerated individuals across two offices in Los Angeles and Sacramento. Learn moreat www.arc-ca.org.POSITION SUMMARYThe Communications Intern is a year-long, part-time position. Reporting directly to theDesign and Communications Manager, The Communications Intern will support ARC’sCommunications Department through hands-on content creation, photography, andstorytelling. This role is ideal for a creative self-starter who is eager to gain experiencein social media, visual storytelling, and digital communications while contributing to amission-driven organization.The intern will assist the Communications Department with administrative tasksassigned by the team. The intern will also assist in documenting ARC programs andevents, capturing authentic photos and videos, and helping produce social mediacontent that highlights the people and impact behind ARC’s work.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS• Support Communications Manager and/or Communications Associate inadministrative tasks, as assigned.• Join and participate in team communications meetings.• Represent ARC in a professional manner at all times.• Attend any other meetings that your supervisor assigns to you.• Complete all standard employee tasks: responding to emails, Slacks, etc in atimely manner• Complete all trainings assigned by supervisor• All other duties as assigned by supervisor or director

• Capture photos and short-form videos at ARC events, workshops, and memberactivities.• Be an on-camera content creator representing ARC on social media.• Draft engaging captions and posts for ARC’s social media channels.• Help brainstorm and plan creative campaigns for social media that align withARC’s messaging and goals.• Come up with social media post ideas.• Organize and edit media content using basic photography and video editingtools.• Contribute ideas for storytelling that uplift ARC members and programs.*Duties do not comprise an exhaustive list and are subject to change.LEARNING OPPORTUNITIESDuring this internship, the Communications Intern will:• Gain real-world work experience in nonprofit communications and mediastrategy.• Build a portfolio of photography and digital content.• Learn how to translate powerful stories into effective outreach tools.• Receive mentorship from ARC’s Communications team and network withprofessionals in social impact storytelling.QUALIFICATIONS• Must be between the ages of 18-26• Passion for storytelling, social justice, and criminal justice reform.• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X/Twitter,Facebook).• Interest in learning digital filmmaking and marketing tools like Canva, CapCut, etc• Organized, reliable, and able to work independently or in a team environment.• Availability to attend ARC events occasionally on evenings or weekends.• Open to feedback• Ability to work independently but with supervision• Ability to organize and prioritize work• Excellent interpersonal skills• Individuals with lived experience of incarceration or familial incarcerationpreferred, but open to everyoneTo apply: send resumé and cover letter to sflorez@arc-ca.org and blear@arcca.org.
