Job description

Summary

Arizona Public Service is an energy provider focused on generating clean, reliable, and affordable energy for Arizona. The company is seeking engineering students for a paid 10-week Palo Verde summer internship involving engineering analysis, design, research, documentation, and project collaboration. Interns will gain practical experience through individual and group projects, professional development, mentoring, and exposure to engineering career paths in the energy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies
  • Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations
  • Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments
  • Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments
  • Performs other related duties as required

Skills

  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate program in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline
  • Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering discipline or related applied science discipline
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles
  • Practices and theories and use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations
  • Problem analysis/resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline
  • For positions at Palo Verde Generating Stations (PVGS) all openings will require applicants to be a U.S. person
