Summary
Bechtel is a construction and engineering company serving infrastructure, energy, mining, manufacturing, and technology markets. The Mechanical Engineering Intern supports plant equipment work in multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical direction, conducting quality inspections, coordinating with engineering and procurement, and resolving field technical issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction to the craft for the installation of mechanical equipment
- Interpret and apply industry codes for the installation of rotating and mechanical equipment
- Interface with other functions including engineering and procurement
- Perform constructability reviews
- Plan and package the work for the craft
- Verify installed quantities
- Resolve technical issues with designer of record
- Manage equipment and materials, both permanent plant materials or material used for indirect construction use
- Perform inspections and tests to verify quality and manage quality records
- Interact with subcontractors
- Implement standard work processes and procedures
Skills
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
- Completed relevant coursework
- Prior co-op or internship experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Practical work experience in a construction environment
- Demonstrated teamwork skills
- Fluency in multiple languages (preferably Spanish, Arabic, or French)
