Job description

Summary

ByteAsk is building an AI coding agent for C and C++. The Open Source Fellow will spend three months working on active open-source C/C++ repositories, using ByteAsk to solve issues and contribute pull requests that result in useful code being merged.

Responsibilities

  • Pick active C/C++ open-source repositories you care about and use ByteAsk to solve real issues and contribute PRs
  • Your goal is simple: get useful code merged

Skills

  • You're strong in C or C++ and comfortable debugging low-level systems code
  • You can navigate large, unfamiliar codebases without needing everything explained first
  • You're comfortable with build systems, compiler errors, tests, CI failures, and dependency issues
  • You can take an issue from reproduction → root cause → patch → pull request
  • You know Git and GitHub well enough to work with branches, diffs, reviews, and upstream maintainers
  • You can read existing code and match the conventions and architecture of the project
  • You're comfortable debugging code you didn't write
  • You can independently find meaningful issues and figure out what is worth fixing
  • Prior open-source contributions are a plus
