Truss Designer

Summary

Carter Lumber is a family-owned building materials company serving professional builders and homeowners. The Truss Designer creates truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings, communicates with customers about designs and schedules, ensures blueprint accuracy, and optimizes approved designs for production using MiTek software.

Responsibilities

• Creating truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for both submittals and production
• You will communicate via phone and email with internal and external customers regarding designs, requests for information, schedules, etc
• You will ensure customer blueprint drawings are produced accurately and in a timely manner
• When the design has been approved, it will need to be optimized and then released for production
• Sharing knowledge and assisting with workloads when necessary

Skills

• Previous experience using MiTek software is a must
• High level of knowledge in the application of the products being designed
• Competency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry
• Must be able to read and understand architectural and structural plans
• Strong communication skills for discussing designs and schedule
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
