Social Worker Intern - Community Services (Unpaid)

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet is a mission-driven organization focused on positive results for people. They are seeking a Social Worker Intern to provide services to clients in the areas of Homeless Prevention and Transitional and Rapid Rehousing programs.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a member of the Community Services team, providing services to clients in the areas of Homeless Prevention and Transitional and Rapid Rehousing programs
• Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position
• Meet with individuals in the office and in community settings including home visits to provide case management to program participants
• Assist with quality review processes
• Ability to relate well to families and individuals in crisis situations
• Must demonstrate fundamental communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with co-workers, other community agencies, and constructively with persons from all ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds
• Conduct Homeless Prevention Assessments and related documentation for that program
• Provide Case Management for Transitional Housing and Rapid Rehousing clients, including service planning, social histories and other supportive services
• Learn office phone system including providing occasional coverage for reception absences
• Engage in research impacting client needs and compiling data reports
• Conducts Landlord Engagement and works with prospective landlords for housing

Skills

• Enrollment in an approved college program is required for this position
• All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Teams
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required
• BSW Students are preferred with preference in areas of Social Work and Human Services
