Job description

Summary

The Mechanical Engineer 1 will create engineering designs, review draft designs for compliance, and contribute to technical documentation while ensuring adherence to firm policies and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements
  • Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs
  • Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications
  • Updates design requirements as necessary
  • Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc
  • Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals
  • Performs other duties as required
  • May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • 0 years of experience
  • Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
  • Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design
  • Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
