Accountant I

Summary

Centene Corporation is a healthcare company focused on connecting people to the care they need. The Accountant I supports cash-related accounting processes for Medicaid Health Plans, maintains accurate financial records, prepares financial statements, supports month-end close activities, and participates in special projects.

Responsibilities

• Account for cash through cash deposits, cash applications, collection and cash forecasting
• Process payment and void requests
• Respond to inquiries about payments
• Assist with preparing financial reports and supporting month-end close processes
• Evaluate variances, account balances, etc
• Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, related field or equivalent experience
• 0-2 years' experience in accounting
• Preferably in health care industry
• Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP
