Job description

Summary

Cisco is seeking a Finance Analyst to support the Splunk Product Organization. The role focuses on OPEX support, forecasting, reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and influencing strategic investment decisions while partnering with engineering, product management, HR, talent acquisition, and accounting teams.

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting and Opex Management - Support Engineering leadership prioritization and decision making, portfolio planning, annual budgeting and quarterly commit processes, month-end and quarterly close activities, forecasting/reporting/variance analysis, driving compliance
  • Partner closely key business partners, including Engineering and Product Management leadership, HR, talent acquisition, and accounting to collaborate and establish best practices across the organization
  • Model headcount costs and discretionary expenses to identify opportunities and provide recommendations to pull back or accelerate spend based on areas of prioritization by the team
  • Continuously improve forecasting accuracy through enhanced data analytics and cross-functional collaboration
  • Support monthly close processes, including: accruals, variance analysis, and PO, invoice, and requisition approvals
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses as needed
  • Understand GAAP and Cisco accounting policy impacts on expense forecasts

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business-related field with 3+ years of proven experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills is a requirement
  • Proficiency with finance ERPs and financial planning software (e.g. Oracle Hyperion Essbase, NetSuite, Anaplan, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Previous OpEx or COGS Experience is preferred
  • SaaS business experience
  • Has shown an ability to drive process improvements and automation

  • 80 hours of sick time off provided on the hire date and each January 1st thereafter, with up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next.
  • Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members.
  • Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer.
  • For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies.
