Summary
Schwan’s Company is a U.S. food manufacturer and marketer serving retail-grocery and food-service channels. The Payroll Analyst will analyze, audit, and process payroll data, reconcile records, resolve discrepancies, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve payroll processes while collaborating with HR, Finance, and other functions.
Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and verify timekeeping records and hours worked for accuracy
- Process payroll related data in a timely manner, includes wages, bonuses, commissions, overtime, and other adjustments
- Analyze and reconcile payroll data to ensure accurate and timely payment to employees
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in payroll records
- Perform audits of payroll activities to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure payroll processing adheres to federal, state, and local regulations and company policies
- Verify system prorations and retro pay calculations
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in the payroll system
- Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other relevant functions to ensure accurate employee data and seamless information flow
Skills
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Payroll Analyst or in a similar payroll processing role
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Solid understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and best practices
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Up-to-date knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations
- Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus
