Summary
CLARA Analytics is an AI-as-a-service provider focused on improving casualty claims outcomes for commercial insurance carriers and self-insured organizations. The Actuarial Analyst will analyze client data, identify and resolve data quality issues, create reporting and visualizations, and collaborate with product and technical teams to deliver analytics insights.
Responsibilities
- Master CLARA's data ecosystem to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues for reporting and analytics tools
- Perform data analysis and extract insights from vast, complex data sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement
- Build, maintain, and enhance standardized customer reporting that empowers clients to fully leverage CLARA’s product suite
- Design and develop visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards, reports, and visualizations on an ad hoc or recurring basis
- Collaborate with Product Management, Data Science, and Data Engineering to deploy relevant analytics methods & visualizations
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM or quantitative major (Actuarial Science, CS, Data Science, Math, Stats, Finance, Economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
- At least 2–3 years of Actuary experience in Property-Casualty (P&C) insurance
- A strong foundational understanding of how P&C insurance works, relevant core metrics, and how to analyze and discuss P&C trends
- Highly proficient in SQL with proven experience navigating messy, complex databases to extrapolate, clean, and analyze key data
- Experience with BI tools and knowledge of data and visualization best practices
- Superb attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, with the ability to jump into messy, undocumented data sources to explore, validate, and leverage new insights
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to express or explain complicated technical concepts, to a variety of audiences
- Start-up and/or insurtech experience
- Experience with or working knowledge of AI tools, specifically Claude
- Experience or familiarity with Sigma Computing
- Domain knowledge of Workers Comp, General Liability, and/or Auto
