Job description

Summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Rail Engineering Designer II to join their growing team. The role involves developing track design drawings, performing engineering calculations, and coordinating project drawings, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop track design drawings using Bentley software products
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Research and apply code provisions to design
  • Create cost estimates for project alternatives
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc
  • Coordinate drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects
  • Create 3D models using Bentley products. This includes the development of alignment plans & profiles, cross sections, and preparing quantities
  • Research design options and document findings for project engineer/manager
  • Submit concept designs and work through approval processes
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs and drawings

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required
  • 3+ years of experience in track design and railroad engineering required
  • Experience using OpenRoads or OpenRail
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
  • PE license preferred
