Summary
Conifers is transforming security operations centers with CognitiveSOC™, an AI SOC platform that helps enterprises and MSSPs investigate complex incidents. The Sales Engineer will own the technical sales cycle, including discovery, demonstrations, evaluations, technical validation, integrations, and maintaining customer relationships after the sale.
Responsibilities
- Own technical discovery to understand the customer’s security environment, operational challenges, stakeholders, and decision criteria
- Partner with Account Executives to build an evaluation plan and maintain technical momentum throughout the sales cycle
- Deliver tailored demonstrations that connect Conifers’ capabilities to the customer’s workflows and priorities
- Lead proofs of value with clear scope, measurable success criteria, timelines, and responsibilities
- Guide integrations and troubleshoot permissions, APIs, data availability, and configuration issues during evaluations
- Review investigation results with analysts and security leaders, explaining the evidence, conclusions, and remaining gaps
- Turn evaluation findings into a clear technical and business case, addressing objections and communicating results to decision-makers
- Coordinate technical questionnaires and security reviews, bringing in internal specialists when needed
- Provide actionable customer feedback to Product and Engineering, and improve reusable demos, guides, and evaluation materials
- Maintain trusted technical relationships after the sale, working with the teams responsible for onboarding and support
Skills
- A background combining hands-on cybersecurity work with customer-facing technical responsibility
- This will often represent 4 or more years of relevant experience
- Experience leading customer demonstrations, technical workshops, or proofs of concept, with clear examples of your ownership and results
- Practical understanding of alert triage, investigation, escalation, and incident response
- Hands-on depth in at least one major SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, or comparable security platform, and the ability to learn unfamiliar tools
- Comfort troubleshooting REST APIs, JSON, authentication, permissions, and data flow
- The ability to explain technical findings clearly to practitioners, SOC managers, and business stakeholders
- Good judgment about what evidence supports a conclusion, where uncertainty remains, and when to involve a specialist
- The discipline to manage customer commitments, document decisions, and keep multiple evaluations moving
- Curiosity about AI and a practical interest in applying it responsibly to security operations
- Working in an MSSP or MDR environment
- Moving from security operations, implementation, or technical account management into presales
- Writing Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripts
- Building security automation, integrations, or technical demonstrations
- Using AI tools to improve technical work and validating their output
Qualifications
Must Haves
