Job description

Summary

Consor is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to support transportation improvement projects involving local, county, and state roadway and highway design. The role develops roadway design documents and calculations, monitors compliance with engineering standards, processes survey and right-of-way data, and mentors junior engineers while supporting regional and national projects.

Responsibilities

  • The development of typical sections, alignments, profiles, layouts, and cross-sections
  • Work with the design team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for specific tasks and quantity calculations
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes and engineering practices
  • Perform engineering calculations and estimates
  • Collect and process data for topographic surveys and right-of-way engineering for use in design analysis
  • Help junior engineers as a mentor to the design process, providing leadership in design tasks and oversight of quality for the projects

Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum four years of transportation engineering (Highway/Roadway specific design) experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficiency in Microstation, Open Roads Designer software is necessary
  • This remote job operates between an office environment that you will need to cultivate in your own location and will requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones
  • There may be some travel to the primary location for the work
  • While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling
  • This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs
  • Experience working in Georgia with GDOT Standards is a plus
  • GA License is a plus

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum four years of transportation engineering (Highway/Roadway specific design) experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
