Summary
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) engineers a diverse portfolio of high technology solutions, products and services. The Advanced Engineering Technician will support engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Interprets basic engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics
- Constructs, modifies, debugs, troubleshoots, calibrates, tests and adjusts a variety of tools, equipment and systems
- Conducts, analyzes and documents statistically based experiments to define process parameters
- Implements and documents complex solutions for process improvement
- Designs and constructs basic tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
- Organizes, analyzes and interprets data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommends resolution/process improvement
Skills
- Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Ability to review technical documentation, wiring diagrams, schematics, and interface diagrams to install and test shipboard equipment
- Ability to load software using technical documentation
- Ability and understanding of systems interfacing in order to test and troubleshoot
- Ability to use hand tools and electronic test equipment
- Ability to build and test various cables/connectors used in a marine environment
- Ability to work in a shipyard environment and at times confined spaces
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a team or individual setting
- Ability to work in settings which may require prolonged standing, sitting, or kneeling
- Having own tools is preferred but not required
- Travel of up to 70% may be required
- Combat Systems experience preferred, but not required
- Secret Clearance preferred or the ability to receive in a reasonable amount of time
