Summary
Credit Acceptance is a provider of used and new car financing with an engineering and analytics team focused on technology-driven business solutions. The Software Engineer II, Data will design and build scalable, reliable, and observable data models and pipelines across batch and streaming architectures, while partnering with stakeholders, ensuring data quality, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member
- Designs and builds end-to-end data pipelines across batch and streaming architectures that process structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data with a strong emphasis on data quality, scalability, reliability, and observability
- Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement effective data integration strategies
- Write unit tests and validate data against acceptance criteria
- Apply and advocate for team coding, documentation, and testing standards
- Conduct impact analysis to assess changes across applications
- Develop a strong understanding of business processes to align technical solutions with business needs
- Experiment with new ideas, validate assumptions, and recommend solutions
- Participate in code reviews and communicate application changes
- Document code and projects for maintainability and support. This includes reading, writing, and reviewing design documents
- Troubleshoot production issues and propose effective solutions
- Engage in continuous learning to improve design, code quality, and domain knowledge
- Remain compliant with our policies processes and legal guidelines

Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years of data engineering experience
- Solid grasp of programming (Python, SQL, Pyspark, etc), data modeling, and database management (SQL/NoSQL)
- Experience designing scalable batch and/or streaming data pipelines
- Strong understanding of data modeling
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
- Fluency with AI tools and ADLC
- Working knowledge of Databricks
- Operates with full autonomy on large-scale, complex data projects. Go to for a data domain

- Experience in orchestration and transformation frameworks such as Airflow, dbt, and Dagster, along with cloud-native platforms like Databricks

Benefits
- This position is eligible for an annual variable cash bonus, between 7.5 - 15%. Bonus amounts are based on individual performance.
