The Commercial Contract Administrator manages Commercial and Part D rebate payments, ensures contract compliance, supports Revenue Defender initiatives, and uses AI-enabled analytics and automation to improve payment processing, data validation, and revenue protection.
Responsibilities
- Build deep technical knowledge of Contract Administration procedures and systems, contracting language, and product knowledge
- Exhibit knowledge of customers, including PBMs, HMOs, and Commercial/Part D payers, and each of their unique requirements
- Display knowledge of the healthcare industry and trends that could affect Lilly's contracts and rebates
- Develop a strong working understanding of AI/ML tools used in Revenue Defender investigation and their potential adoption more broadly across the organization
- Build strong internal relationships through frequent formal and informal communication with internal partners, such as Contract Development, Legal, Government Pricing, Field Account Managers, Gross-to-Net, IT, and Purchase-to-Pay/Treasury
- Develop trusting relationships with customer peers, proactively identifying and resolving issues, and identifying opportunities that benefit both parties
- Conduct thorough reviews of preliminary contracts to identify potential Contract Administration issues and collaborate with the Contract Development team to ensure final contract language reflects the intent of the agreement
- Manage contracts in the rebate system, including confirming formulary status and rebate percentage, setting up or amending price groups and exhibits, and accurately setting up value-based, bundled, or other unique contracting rebate strategies
- Process data through the rebate system to determine payment amounts, producing reports and Customer Payment Packets to identify differences between expected and projected payments
- Reconcile current-quarter payment requests vs. actual payments; analyze trend variances and investigate root causes
- Route full payments for FRAP approval/signature, following up as needed to meet customer payment deadlines
- Serve as an active contributor to Revenue Defender initiatives, identifying ineligible rebate submissions, contract compliance exceptions, and potential revenue leakage through pharmacy- and NDC-level analysis
- Document findings and partner with the Revenue Defender team on recoupment and corrective action
- Help identify data anomalies and patterns across large transactional data sets to support ongoing revenue protection
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve Lilly's people, systems, and processes — identifying, testing, measuring, and codifying best practices
- Identify opportunities for process standardization, automation, and AI-enabled analytics, and help implement improvements
- Leverage AI-enabled analytics and automation tools to accelerate data validation, trend analysis, and payment reconciliation, including automated variance detection and account profiling
- Support organizational planning, forecasting, and decision-making by generating and reviewing trend reports and sharing insights with Brand, Account Management, and Gross-to-Net teams
- Support Annual Audit by maintaining access to Payment Packets for internal and external auditors
- Participate in ad-hoc initiatives presenting new AI-enabled ways of working across the organization as part of the Accelerate Reach & Scale initiative
- This role is expected to operate with flexibility across Contract Administration's core work areas. While the primary focus is commercial rebate payments, team members may be asked to support additional areas, including copay, Commercial and Part D rebate payments, and Revenue Defender, based on evolving business needs, team capacity, and organizational priorities
Skills
- Bachelor's degree
- 1 year of work experience in pharma rebates, PBM, healthcare finance, or data analytics. Alternatively, recent graduates with internship experience and/or coursework in a quantitative field may be considered

- History of teamwork and customer service skills
- Experience with data flow, internal controls and processes, and system connectivity
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics and automation tools (e.g., Revenue Defender) to accelerate data validation, anomaly detection, and trend analysis is a plus
- Knowledge of pharmacy claim data and how it flows through related systems
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and analyzing rebate and claims data in a data warehouse environment (e.g., Redshift, SQL Server)
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, Power Query, and formula-based reconciliation of large data sets
- Experience with Power BI or a similar business intelligence/visualization tool for trend reporting and dashboarding
- Exposure to automation or scripting tools (e.g., Power Automate, Python) to support process standardization and efficiency
- Experience with a rebate management platform (e.g., ICyte) and familiarity with pharmacy claims data structures (NDC, NCPDP) preferred
- Ability to identify data anomalies or patterns across large transactional data sets to support revenue protection and compliance
