Summary
The County of Galveston operates the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. The office is seeking a detail-oriented Warrants Clerk to receive, enter, access, process, and safeguard confidential law enforcement information while supporting warrant operations, dispatch, extradition coordination, and records maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate person and/or take messages
- Receives, processes, and distributes, criminal and civil warrants; enters into local, state, and national computer databases
- Processes returns of executed criminal and civil warrants
- Receives, updates, and enters data regarding persons or warrants
- Coordinates and schedules extradition trips for deputies to transport
- Dispatch deputies for various calls
- Organizes and maintains files related to operations
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills
- Possess a valid Texas driver's license
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language in a clear and understandable fashion
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft products)
- Skill in multi-tasking and prioritizing
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
- Ability to organize, compile, and record information accurately
- Ability to perform research utilizing a variety of paper-based and electronic sources
- Ability to operate common office equipment including but not limited to computer, photocopier, and fax machine
- Be able to work under adverse conditions and during unusual hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime
