Summary
The City of Garland is seeking a Court Services Assistant to support Municipal Court operations. The role processes citations and court documents, assists the public with legal filing and court procedures, manages court schedules and records, prepares official documents, and processes payments.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to the public including explaining legal filing processes, calendaring procedures, fees, fines, jury service rules, etc
- Obtain, process, and review legal documents for completeness and conformity to legal requirements and manage related record keeping
- Schedule court appearances and hearings and update court calendars, ensuring case files are complete before and after court proceedings
- Prepare and issue writs, warrants, and other official court documents as needed
- Process payments, including filing fees, cash bonds, fines, and account payments
- Update automated case records with rulings and payment information
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- 6 months to 1 year of advanced training beyond high school
- 2 years of related experience in a court environment or law enforcement agency or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
