Summary
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking a Controls Engineering Technician II to support its field service engineering team for Active Protection Systems. The role provides hands-on technical support for installing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining APS kits on military vehicles and platforms while coordinating with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Supports the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices
- Provides setup, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes
- Assists with testing of systems, devices, and instruments
- Documents testing procedures, and measures and records performance results following established methods
- Maintains the inventory of supplies and tools used for testing and maintenance
- Conduct diagnostic testing, identify system faults, and provide appropriate remedial actions in the field
- Installs and calibrate various production system platforms to ensure proper functioning
- Engage directly with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in projects
Skills
- Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is required
- Requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process
- Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines
- Works with close supervision
- Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
- Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Electronic Equipment Installation. Engineering Support. Laboratory Supply Management. Performance Analysis. Technical Troubleshooting. Testing Result Reporting. Control Systems. Electro-Mechanical Components/Instruments. Test Documentation. Equipment Repairs. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
- May need to stand for long periods of time
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
- May be requested to work a different shift
- This position is Safety-Sensitive
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required
- More than 50% travel likely
- Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
- Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
