Summary
Hillsborough College is a higher education institution. The Accountant II prepares and analyzes complex accounting reports, reconciles accounts, verifies financial records, supports student financial operations, and provides accounting-related customer service and procedural guidance.
Responsibilities
- Maintains files and records (both computer and documents) as required
- Processes invoices, vouchers, records, etc. as assigned
- Reviews, calculates and analyzes accounting ledgers, A/R, bookstore and other accounts as necessary
- Maintains validity and integrity of accounts and/or funds
- Prepares periodic and special reports of account status or analysis as required (waivers, annual financial report, etc.) to include reconciliation of state and federal funds
- Reviews lower level accounting work assignments for accuracy and completeness
- Creates, inputs, maintains and prepares computer records and reports as requested. May include higher level functions, depending on computer proficiency
- Interacts with students, general public, and college staff to share information. Provides procedures and addresses pertinent issues to include conducting accounting procedure training
- Performs other similar and related duties as required
- Assist with managing the department's escheatment process and communication
- Assist with refund and 1098T communications
- Respond to student inquiries regarding bookstore charges, student refunds, IRS Form 1098-T tax statements, and unclaimed property funds
- Research and resolve student account discrepancies while providing accurate and timely customer service
- Collaborate with departments across the College to support student financial operations and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures

- Bachelor degree and three years of prior-related work experience
