Job description

Summary

Hitachi Energy is a leading company in the energy sector, and they are seeking a Control/Cyber Engineer to support the development of control solutions for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and High Voltage DC (HVDC) projects. The role involves developing interface and communication hardware and software solutions, contributing to project documentation, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop interface and communication hardware and software solutions for FACTS and HVDC installations
  • Create drawings that support layouts and site designs
  • Configure PCs from both an operating system and network perspective
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to project development activities
  • Prepare detailed documentation to support created controls
  • Take ownership of customer-related issues and drive them to completion with internal and external suppliers and team members
  • Support factory acceptance testing, site construction, and commissioning activities for new projects
  • Follow and implement cybersecurity processes and standards in projects, including support for cybersecurity services, reporting, and deliveries
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

Skills

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, preferably electrical or computer/control engineering
  • Minimum of 0–3 years in one or a combination of the following disciplines: Field Service, Project Engineering, or Customer support
  • Experience in development of software for user interface components and the networks they communicate over
  • Knowledge of network design and implementation fundamentals, including TCPIP, domains, and segmentation, along with virtualization technology and OS management
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity approaches and tools, with the ability to apply sound thinking to address issues
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, with the ability to spend roughly a year in Sweden for in-depth training
