Job description

Summary

ICA, Inc. is a growing company that supports government clients through research, data analysis, advanced data science, and strategic services. The Data Scientist will design and deliver data science and AI solutions for complex healthcare, federal health, and regulated-data environments, taking ownership from problem definition through evaluation and production. The role includes developing machine-learning, NLP, generative-AI, analytics, and decision-support workflows while collaborating with technical staff, domain experts, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build machine-learning, analytics, NLP, and generative-AI solutions using structured and unstructured data
  • Develop and improve workflows that transform documents, free text, and other complex source data into reliable structured outputs
  • Build downstream data-science solutions such as classification, prediction, prioritization, analytics, and decision-support workflows
  • Perform data preparation, feature development, experimentation, model evaluation, error analysis, and validation
  • Investigate model and data-quality issues and iterate on approaches when results do not meet expectations
  • Contribute to production workflows, monitoring, human-review processes, and reproducible data-science practices
  • Work with senior technical staff, domain experts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience in Data Science or related field
  • Hands-on experience building data science, machine-learning, or applied-AI solutions
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with solid foundations in statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and data analysis
  • Experience working with unstructured data such as documents, free text, NLP, information extraction, document AI, or LLM-based workflows
  • Ability to independently execute defined projects, evaluate results, troubleshoot failures, and communicate findings clearly
  • Understanding of how data quality and extraction errors can affect downstream models and analytics
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and have lived in the US for 3 or more consecutive years
  • Must be able and willing to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • This is a remote position following Eastern Standard Time (EST)
  • Experience working with production systems, sensitive data, or high-accountability environments is preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, government, or regulated industries is a plus
  • Candidates residing in the DMV area preferred
