Position Overview: This internship is ideal for a student interested in social media, marketing, communications, community outreach, multicultural engagement, economic development, or public relations.
Move2STL is seeking two Social Media & Community Outreach Interns to help expand awareness of the program and reach prospective relocation candidates, with particular emphasis on Latino and Asian professional and community networks.
Interns will work closely with the Director of Move2STL to identify relevant audiences, develop engaging content, build relationships with digital communities, and help turn social media engagement into measurable inquiries and relocation leads.
Interns should be comfortable researching online communities, writing for social media, using platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and learning how communications strategy supports larger workforce and population-growth goals.
Opportunities:
  • Research Latino and Asian professional associations, community organizations, alumni networks, social media groups, and other digital communities that could help expand Move2STL outreach.
  • Help develop and schedule social media content for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other Move2STL communications channels.
  • Create culturally relevant outreach content designed to introduce prospective movers to career opportunities, neighborhoods, housing resources, community connections, and quality of life in St. Louis.
  • Identify appropriate Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, professional associations, community pages, and online networks where Move2STL can responsibly share program information.
  • Support outreach campaigns designed to generate new inquiries and relocation leads.
  • Develop simple graphics, social posts, short-form videos, and other digital content using tools such as Canva.
  • Monitor engagement, comments, inquiries, and responses generated through social media outreach.
  • Track outreach activity and basic performance metrics, including posts published, communities reached, engagement, inquiries, and leads generated.
  • Research social media trends and content strategies that could help Move2STL better connect with prospective movers.
  • Help build a consistent content calendar and organize reusable outreach materials.
  • Gain hands-on experience with digital marketing, community engagement, audience development, communications strategy, and program growth.
  • Participate in brainstorming and strategy discussions related to Move2STL outreach, partnerships, events, and relocation campaigns.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Undergraduate student studying marketing, communications, public relations, business, sociology, international studies, digital media, community development, or a related field.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using social media platforms for professional or organizational communications.
  • Interest in multicultural communities, community engagement, workforce development, relocation, or economic development.
  • Familiarity with Canva or basic graphic-design tools is helpful but not required.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Curious, creative, organized, and comfortable conducting online research.
  • Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, or another language commonly spoken within Latino or Asian communities is a plus but not required.
