Summary
John Crane is a global leader in mission-critical flow control solutions for energy and process industries. The Customer Reliability Engineer Intern role is designed to provide Mechanical Engineering students with hands-on experience in inspecting and assembling mechanical seals, as well as supporting the sales team and engineering efforts.
Responsibilities
- Inspects, disassembles, and cleans mechanical seal parts
- Reviews part print drawings and makes judgements on parts reparability
- Laps mechanical seal faces to design tolerances
- Assembles mechanical seals, pressure tests, and prepares for shipment
- Conducts mechanical seal failure analysis and failure root cause analysis
- Assist Sales Team with field needs and customer inside support
- Works with branch and regional engineering team for customer process application reviews
- Works with Reliability Engineers to run calculations over new and existing seal designs
- Communicates with stakeholders at various levels and disciplines
Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university-level Mechanical Engineering program, having completed at least two years in the program
- Must be in good academic standing
- Mechanical aptitude; willing to work in a production/manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Effective written and spoken communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Some CAD experience; solid modelling a plus
- Experience working with a diverse group is a plus
- Bilingual a plus
