Summary
Key Capture Energy is seeking a Transmission Analyst to support the development and operation of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. The role uses power flow modeling, production cost models, and analytical tools to optimize interconnection costs, support market performance, forecast prices, and improve internal automation.
Responsibilities
- Scope, run and automate studies using power flow models and other tools in support of key decision points for new and existing BESS development projects across multiple geographic areas
- Assist with scoping and interpretation of third-party power flow and production cost studies
- Produce internal memos and presentations on transmission upgrade costs associated with existing development projects
- Executive production cost model studies to support broad market theses, commercial opportunities, and nearer-term price forecasting
- Identify and implement improvements to short-term price forecasts
- Build and maintain internal work aids and automation to assist with above responsibilities
- All other duties as required
Skills
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
- Experience with power flow and production cost modeling tools (e.g., Siemens PSSE, PowerWorld Simulator, PROMOD, Dayzer)
- Proficient in Python, SQL, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in a small team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Prolonged periods of working at a computer
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or 2 years of experience in electrical engineering, planning, or operations in the power sector
