Summary
Leidos is an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with digital and mission-focused innovations. The company is seeking an Aeronautical Information Specialist to support the FAA Aeronautical Information Services Group by providing technical expertise, transition support, and project implementation services for the national database. The role focuses on maintaining and verifying aeronautical procedure data, supporting updates across flight procedure publications, and assisting with obstacle and impact team activities.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP) data for current and pending approved, and suspended procedures as well as plans-on-file for procedures for future airports/runways
- Verifying the information in the database matches the publications in the 28- and 56-day publication cycles
- Providing updated information for the following:
- Airports
- Runways
- Special Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP’s)
- Navigational Aids (NAVAIDs)
- Airways
- EnRoute Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) updates
- Departure Procedures
- Standard Terminal Arrivals (STARs)
- Assisting with obstacle position verification
- Maintaining records of actions processed through the IFP Impact Team
- Participating in IFP Impact Team meetings and supporting as needed via notes and reports
Skills
- * **Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience**
- * **Aviation experience**
- * **Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust suitability (US citizenship OR US residency + last 3 years living in the US required)**
- * **Commercial Instrument Rated Pilot (Military or Civilian)**
- * **Certified Instrument Flight Instructor**
- * **Previous experience with FAA or DoD terminal instrument procedures (TERPS)**
- * **Airspace and Procedures background (Instrument Flight Procedures)**
