Design Engineer

Summary

LEWCO, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to develop, design, and improve new and existing company products and systems. The role involves working from customer requirements and engineering standards to create design solutions using CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design company products using SolidWorks or other engineering software
• Create engineering drawings for use in proposals and manufacturing
• Create bills of material and routings for use in cost estimates and manufacturing
• Create owner’s manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as required
• Perform engineering computations for sizing equipment components
• Provide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturing
• Provide field support of company products as required
• Perform Lead Engineer role for assigned sales orders including customer interaction, vendor communication, and project management as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

• Proficient with SolidWorks CAD software
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations utilizing software applications and/or manual methods
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, sales, manufacturing, and production personnel to meet customer requirements
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience, or Associate degree in an engineering-related field with four (4) or more years of related experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Proficient in algebra and geometry as required to solve engineering problems
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• This role has no direct reporting responsibilities
• Able to provide basic technical leadership in guiding cross functional peers through portions of the product development process
• SolidWorks is preferred
• Competence with 2D/3D CAD software
