Summary
Milliman IntelliScript develops data-driven software-as-a-service products for insurance clients. The Software Engineer II will build and modernize client-facing applications, BFF APIs, service integrations, and AWS-based solutions, while contributing to product quality, testing, deployments, and collaborative engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain and improve software and other technical solutions that solve business challenges
- Develop and maintain modern front-end applications and supporting backend-for-frontend (BFF) APIs and service integrations
- Play a key role in redesigning our monolithic legacy products in AWS
- Champion AWS best practices
- Mentor team members on software engineering best practices
- Focus on overall product quality
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests
- Responsibly self-manage workload given project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
- Help the team achieve sprint goals through independent work and collaboration
- Participate in code reviews to promote quality and best practices
- Support code deployments
Skills
- 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
- Strong experience with React and TypeScript/JavaScript for modern application development
- Experience developing or supporting backend services and BFF APIs using C# (.NET 8) and SQL
- Cloud development experience with AWS
- Understanding of DevOps best practices using GitHub and Terraform
- Understanding of Agile practices (e.g. Scrum)
- Experience with full software development lifecycle
- Excellent technical design, problem solving, and debugging skills
- Experience with domain driven design
- Experience with microservice architecture
- Experience with event-driven architecture
- Experience with writing testable code, unit tests, integration tests, etc
- Passionate about building high-quality systems with AWS best practices
- Excellent collaborative skills, work well independently and as a team member
- Proven analytical skills to interpret and implement business and functional requirements
