Job description
Summary
Modular, a Qualcomm company, develops Mojo, a programming language designed for high-performance computing across modern AI hardware. The Back-End Compiler Engineer will build and optimize a multi-target compiler stack using MLIR and LLVM, implement language features, improve developer experience, and collaborate with kernel authors, hardware engineers, researchers, and the open-source community.
Responsibilities
- Craft and implement new Mojo language features on top our MLIR-based compiler architecture
- Dream up and realize optimization passes that make GPUs, CPUs, and accelerators sing in harmony
- Shape the developer experience for Mojo — from syntax to performance semantics
- Collaborate with the Modular core teams, researchers, and an emerging open-source community
- Help define what "next-generation language design" means in the age of AI
Skills
- 3+ years working on compilers, runtimes, or language implementations
- Hands-on mastery of C++
- Experience with MLIR and LLVM
- Experience optimizing code for CPUs, GPUs or AI accelerator hardware
- Have contributed to a real-world compiler project
- Python fluency a big plus
Qualifications
Must Haves
- 3+ years working on compilers, runtimes, or language implementations
- Hands-on mastery of C++
- Experience with MLIR and LLVM
- Experience optimizing code for CPUs, GPUs or AI accelerator hardware
- Have contributed to a real-world compiler project
