Summary
Nucor Corporation, through its David J. Joseph Company division, is a world leader in scrap metal recycling, trading, and transportation. The Trader Development Program trains participants to buy and sell metals and ferroalloys, develop supplier and customer relationships, manage contracts and logistics, and support Nucor’s raw material supply chain. After training, participants are assigned to a district office and brokerage based on business needs and must be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Buy and sell ferrous, nonferrous metals and or ferroalloys to drive Nucor's raw material advantage (Depending on assigned brokerage)
- Prospect and develop new supplier and mill relationships
- Manage contracts, payment terms, and supply chain logistics with customers
- Collaborate daily with logistics teams, Nucor mill contacts, and open-market accounts
- Travel to supplier and customer sites (30–60% of time)
- Relocate to any district office at the close of training — and again as you advance
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times

- Negotiation skills and commercial instincts
- Curiosity about financial and commodity markets
