General Liability Litigation Attorney

Summary

Orion Placement is recruiting for a well-established California and Nevada litigation firm handling sophisticated civil matters for corporations, financial institutions, businesses, and private clients. The attorney will manage general liability litigation matters from intake through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motions, court appearances, client communications, and litigation strategy.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of general liability litigation matters from intake through resolution, including complex civil disputes
• Draft, propound, and respond to written discovery (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission)
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
• Prepare and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment, demurrers, and other dispositive filings
• Work with attorneys and clients throughout California while being based in **Sacramento, Pleasant Hill, or Newport Beach**, collaborating across multiple offices on sophisticated litigation matters.
• Handle court appearances including hearings, CMCs, and trials
• Develop and execute litigation strategy in close coordination with partners and clients
• Communicate directly with clients to provide case updates, strategic guidance, and manage expectations
• Conduct legal research and draft well-reasoned memoranda and correspondence
• Collaborate with firm attorneys across California and Nevada on multi-party and cross-jurisdictional matters

Skills

• Candidates must hold an active California Bar license
• This role requires hands-on civil litigation experience, including general liability matters
• Active California Bar license (required)
• 3+ years of civil litigation experience (required)
• General liability litigation experience (required)
• Demonstrated experience with written discovery, depositions, court appearances, and motion practice
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Ability to manage an independent caseload with attention to deadlines and client needs
• 5+ years of experience preferred
