Job description

Summary

Penn State University is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join the Visualization and Decision Support Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL). This internship will focus on gaining hands-on experience in AI/ML data preparation and contributing to meaningful research.

Responsibilities

  • Label and annotate diverse datasets with a primary focus on geospatial data such as tracks, images, video, text, and sensor data
  • Support AI/ML model development for Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) applications
  • Utilize industry-standard and custom labeling tools while collaborating with AI/ML researchers and engineers to understand requirements and contribute to data quality assurance processes

Skills

  • Motivated undergraduate student
  • Undergraduate students in a STEM major (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Sciences, or related fields)
  • Drive to learn and grow in the AI/ML field
  • Commitment to data quality
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Eligible to obtain a government security clearance
  • Participate in the ARL drug testing program
  • Comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
  • Familiarity with geospatial concepts or mapping technologies
  • Previous experience with data analysis or annotation at any level
