Summary
Pets Best Insurance Services, LLC is a pet health insurance company focused on making veterinary care more accessible and affordable. The Actuarial Analyst will analyze financial risks, contribute to product pricing and rate filings, maintain actuarial models, and communicate analytical results to support business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Completes and interprets actuarial analysis, valuations, cost estimates, and modeling using mathematics, statistical programming, and financial theory
- Prepare rate filings, pricing analysis, and experience reports for review
- Assists with the completion of rate filing documents for all states
- Research rate filings, as needed
- Maintains and updates existing models, tools, and other files used for analysis
- Completes ad hoc reporting, as necessary
- Possess and applies broad knowledge of actuarial principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments
- Interprets rate objections and prepare responses and rating support
- Interpret rate regulations and apply them appropriately to rating development and support
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics or related field or equivalent work experience
- 2 years' relevant experience
- Proven ability to pass actuarial exams
- Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, product details and analysis to both technical and non-technical internal audiences, as well as management
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL, R, or Python is a plus
