Summary
Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is a world leader in maintenance management, focusing on the operations and maintenance of transportation and public works infrastructure assets. The Software Engineer will design, build, test, and support the Firm's next-generation Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and its supporting infrastructure, working closely with the engineering team and utilizing AI coding tools.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and ship software components end to end
- Contribute to architecture discussions and engineering standards
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and support releases and deployments
- Support provisioning and operation of cloud compute resources
- Build and maintain integration with Esri ArcGIS, JD Edwards (ERP), SharePoint, and SSO
- Develop AI/agent features and support deployment of AI inference capability into operations
- Support video/LiDAR AI model training, and deployment
- Apply secure-coding practices, encryption, and audit requirements
- Write and maintain automated tests; meet performance and reliability standards
- Participate in the shared on-call rotation and resolve production issues
- Document components, APIs, and operational procedures
Skills
- Technical background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, and/or three to five or more (3-5+) years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning features end to end
- Real experience using AI coding tools to ship faster, and eagerness to push that capability further
- Solid backend and data fundamentals (e.g., Python and PostgreSQL) and comfort with REST/JSON APIs
- A versatile generalist willing to work across the stack wherever the team needs (e.g. frontend, backend)
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
- Creative and innovative team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e., criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing)
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology, including smartphones and applications
- Interest in highway/infrastructure or field-operations software preferred
