Job description
Summary
State of Utah is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Intern to join their Planning Department team. The role involves supporting current and long-range planning initiatives through GIS mapping and analysis, providing hands-on experience in municipal GIS and planning.
Responsibilities
- Field data verification (e.g., addresses and land use)
- GPS data collection using Trimble equipment
- Assisting in GIS research studies and map creation
- Developing or updating "how-to" digital manuals for GIS tasks
- Supporting the creation of interactive web maps and applications
Skills
- Current or previous study in planning, GIS or related field is required
- Coursework or training in GIS, planning, or related fields
- Familiarity with ESRI ArcMap for editing and managing features
- Understanding of GeoDatabase structures and basic GIS principles
- Experience using Trimble GPS field data collection equipment
Qualifications
