Job description

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The User Compliance team sits at the critical intersection of Risk, Onboarding, and the diverse product teams at Stripe. Our mission is to orchestrate the collection and verification of customer data, enabling us to manage financial, regulatory, and reputational risks across all Stripe offerings. As we embark on an ambitious reimagining of our foundational platform constructs, we commit to powering Stripe use cases for the next decade. Our team thrives on collaboration, engaging with internal stakeholders, external customers, and regulatory partners to create a seamless user experience while minimizing friction. We value cross-functional skill sets and product-driven thinking, as we build robust systems at scale that offer the flexibility necessary to meet all different sizes and shapes of customers. We're looking for deeply technical engineering managers with a background in risk or compliance and a passion for scaling distributed systems. Here, you'll have the opportunity to lead impactful initiatives that affect a wide range of stakeholders and drive the future of our platform.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Work with Stripe leaders across the company to create and drive toward the vision of a simple and consistent Risk and Compliance experience
  • Work with Product Managers to shape the product roadmap and enable the experiences that help solve user problems and keep them compliant
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with cross-functional dependencies across the company to meet the deliverables
  • Own the technical roadmap for the team and support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  • Hire and develop the best engineers on your team
  • Be a sponsor-coach for the team to learn and grow
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of the Stripe engineering management team

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience with software development
  • 8–10 years of overall experience with 3+ years of experience in a leadership role with people management responsibilities
  • Experience building diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems
  • Experience thriving in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
