Job description

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Events & Marketing Intern to join our team for the Spring 2027 semester (January through May) and support the planning and execution of Tempest's industry event and marketing activities.

Description

Who We Are

Tempest helps destination organizations be powerful assets for their community. We do this by creating websites that locals can be proud of, providing cloud software that strengthens relationships, and marketing programs that create positive impact.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Events & Marketing Intern to join our team for the Spring 2027 semester (January through May) and support the planning and execution of Tempest's industry event and marketing activities.

In this role, you will report to the Events & Marketing Manager with additional support from the Director of Growth Marketing. You will work alongside our Growth Marketing team to help plan and operate Tempest's 2027 Tourism Academy conference, coordinate our presence at industry tradeshows, and support the marketing initiatives that surround them.

You are someone who enjoys organizing the moving pieces behind a great event, communicating clearly with vendors and partners, and learning how marketing and event operations come together to support a growing business. You are comfortable juggling multiple tasks, following through on details, and collaborating with teammates across departments.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student or early-career professional interested in marketing and event operations, particularly within the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries. If you are excited about learning the inner workings of a national industry conference, building relationships with venues and sponsors, and contributing to a collaborative team, this role may be a great fit.

A day in the life of a Events & Marketing Intern at Tempest may involve

  • Supporting the planning of Tempest's 2027 Tourism Academy conference, including logistical operations such as managing the hotel rooming list, coordinating event registrations, and communicating updates to registered attendees
  • Assisting with event sponsor management and outreach, and communicating with venues and vendors within the host city
  • Supporting Events Marketing activities for additional industry events throughout the year, including coordinating, developing, and deploying e-blasts ahead of key tradeshows and industry events
  • Managing event attendee lists used for pre-show outreach and e-blast campaigns
  • Coordinating with event hosts on show logistics and on-site needs
  • Organizing, packing, and shipping events marketing materials to team members in advance of tradeshows
  • Assisting in the review of post-event budget worksheets in close coordination with the Events & Marketing Manager
  • Taking on additional events and marketing-related tasks as outlined by the Events & Marketing Manager and Director of Growth Marketing

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • An interest in marketing and/or event operations, particularly within the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across teams to support shared goals
  • Familiarity working with Google Workspace (Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs)
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp or similar) is a plus
  • Experience with event registration or project management tools is a plus
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn, ask questions, and contribute to team success

Location & Schedule

This role is based in our Philadelphia, PA office, with a hybrid schedule of three days in office and two days remote. The internship is part-time at approximately 24 hours per week.

Perks + Benefits

  • Great Center City Philadelphia Location
  • Hybrid in-office and remote schedule
  • Casual Work Atmosphere
  • Company Outings
  • Career Growth Opportunities
  • Exposure to the broader destination marketing and tourism industry
