The Sacramento State College Corps (SSCC) is seeking to hire one graduate student for their Retention and Engagement role to support in coordinating and advising fellow services. 

Internal Candidates Only, External Candidates Will Not Be Considered.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (i.e., degree, license, or official transcript), DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

Prerequisites

Must be a Sac State graduate student enrolled in at least four-semester units.

Majors/Fields of Study

Any Major. 

Work Schedule

Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor. 

Additional Work Schedule

Graduate Student Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Outstanding organizational, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, professional etiquette, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other similar software.
  • General work environment knowledge/abilities, including punctuality and dependability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with gathering, computing, and analyzing scientific data.
  • Analyzing situations and adopting effective course of action.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • General advising and coordination of services for 20-30 Sacramento State student fellows.
  • Contributes to the development of print, web, email, social media, phone, and presentation tactics to recruit eligible students into the program.
  • Assists students with meeting program enrollment and maintenance requirements, meets document submission deadlines, completes background checks; verifies financial aid, academic progress, and service hours; and assists students with completing time reporting.
  • Connects students with campus and community resources to address financial aid, academic progress, financial and food security, mental health and wellness, career development, and other needs. 
  • Maintains communication and check-ins with fellows through email, phone calls, Zoom, individual and group in-person meetings; problem-solves or elevates issues that could affect student success and program completion. 
  • Contributes to and leads training, instruction, and activities required by College Corps in collaboration with the Sac State College Corps (SSCC) staff and campus partners. 
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure the timely collection, tracking, and analysis of data related to the fellows required by the #CaliforniansForAll grant to ensure milestones are met and funding continues. Contributes to the accurate completion of required reporting to California Volunteers and AmeriCorps; tracks student fellows’ submissions and approves all processes including background checks, registration in courses, verification of hours/timesheets, and other data as needed.
  • Attends ongoing College Corps trainings related to Fellow Advisor role and actively contributes to meetings and events at the campus, consortium, and state-wide levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Career Center Director and SSCC Project Director to ensure the success of the program and its participants.

Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment.
