CEEE is seeking a highly skilled User Interface Developer/Programmer to strengthen the in-house simulation expertise to meet the growing demand. The candidate will be the programming expert in a team of faculty and graduate students of mechanical engineering background.
The Center for Environmental Energy Engineering
Research at the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering focuses on environmentally responsible energy conversion systems in general and air-conditioning, heat pumps and refrigeration systems in particular.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop effective user-interfaces for a number of windows and web applications, e.g. design of a heat exchangers, climate control systems and power plants etc.

Develop and execute test scripts (unit testing and integration testing) to test the software under development.

Research, test, and implement new technologies, frameworks, and utilities.

Provide computer science, software development and programming expertise to colleagues with predominantly mechanical engineering background.

Author help files and API documentation using commercially available help authoring tools.

Handle support requests via email/phone/Web-meetings and conduct training sessions

Other tasks include: performing comparative evaluation of supporting software applications (e.g., third party applications, user controls etc.), support and troubleshoot computer/network related issues, maintain file and backup servers etc.
Qualifications / Experience

The candidate must have a formal education with MS degree or higher (Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering) with at least two years of professional experience. In case of only a Bachelor’s degree, an equivalent job experience of 3 years or more is required.

Programming experience in Object-oriented, multi-threaded, n-tier programming in a modern language/environment (C#, VB.NET or Managed C++) is required.

Experience must include Windows Forms User Interface development.

Proficiency in Visual Studio Pro (2008 or 2010) and UI development experience with Windows Forms, User Controls and class library development is required.

Experience developing ASP.NET WebForms web applications using C#.

Experience working with HTML, XML, Ajax, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery is a plus.

Experience in all phases of software life cycle is a plus.
One or more of following skills/experience are desired but not required:
-
Experience with engineering tools like Modelica, Matlab, CFD software, numerical analysis or equivalent course-work.

Familiarity with mechanical engineering, specifically thermal and fluid sciences.

Database programming/SQL, networking, distributed computing; systems Administration with Windows Server (2008 / 2008-R2/2012).

Experience using Team Foundation Server or a comparable configuration management tool.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Server components: Windows Server OS, IIS.
