In this role, you will actively collaborate with the team on research-related tasks, such as participant vital-sign monitoring, physical exams, side-effect monitoring, adverse-event evaluation, and investigational drug dispensing (Oral or injectable). This nurse will participate in the research team meeting and in the protocol implementation process. McGovern Medical School Offices and at Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Health Center. This person may need to go to%26nbsp; LBJH, MHH if there is a high-interest research candidate. One year of research experience required. Recruits, screens, enrolls and follows up with participants throughout the course of the research. May be assigned multiple protocols.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3EPosition Key Accountabilities:%3C/strong%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cul%3E%3Cli%3ERecruits, screens %26amp; consents participants, and educates research participants regarding the overall research objectives and potential benefits and/or risks for participants, as necessary for research projects.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ECoordinates and administers the nursing care functions within a research project in accordance with research protocols and the daily administration and staff supervision of the project.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ESchedules follow-up visits and maintains contact with participants, participants%27 families, department staff, pharmaceutical company representatives, other faculty members.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EDistributes research information to faculty, research staff, principal investigator, and others as requested.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EResponsible for preparation of regulatory submission to IRB and applicable regulatory agencies as well as the day-to-day activities of enrolling in clinical studies including trials.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EInputs data and maintains research databases and related records needed for research.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPerforms other duties as assigned.%3C/li%3E%3C/ul%3E

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school required May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

Minimum Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in research required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
