Summary

The Capital Planning & Investment Analyst supports executive leadership by developing business cases, conducting financial and operational analyses, and evaluating strategic initiatives and capital investments. The role partners cross-functionally to support capital planning, forecasting, performance measurement, and informed investment decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of business cases for strategic initiatives, technology investments, operational improvements, and capital requests
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define business problems, opportunities, objectives, assumptions, and success criteria
  • Quantify financial and non-financial benefits, including revenue growth, cost savings, productivity gains, quality improvements, risk mitigation, and member experience enhancements
  • Develop return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), payback period, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and recommendations for leadership review and approval
  • Support annual and multi-year capital planning processes
  • Evaluate and prioritize capital requests against strategic objectives, organizational value, and resource constraints
  • Maintain capital project documentation, business case repositories, and investment tracking tools
  • Monitor approved investments against forecasted benefits and business outcomes
  • Assist leadership in developing investment roadmaps and prioritization frameworks
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory changes, and Medicare Advantage industry developments
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to identify opportunities for operational and strategic improvement
  • Support enterprise strategy initiatives through quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Translate complex business requirements into actionable recommendations
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret operational, clinical, financial, and member data
  • Build forecasting models to evaluate initiative impacts and investment scenarios
  • Create dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to measure business outcomes
  • Identify key business drivers, risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations
  • Partner with business leaders, project sponsors, and subject matter experts to gather requirements and validate assumptions
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and interviews to assess business needs and opportunities
  • Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide ongoing support throughout initiative lifecycle planning and implementation

Skills

  • 3-7 years of experience in business analysis, strategic planning, management consulting, healthcare finance, or related analytical roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field
  • Experience developing business cases, financial models, and executive presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and leadership teams

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • 3-7 years of experience in business analysis, strategic planning, management consulting, healthcare finance, or related analytical roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field
  • Experience developing business cases, financial models, and executive presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
